VISION
Conventions and Incentives New Zealand (CINZ) will take a lead role to increase New Zealand convention and meeting activity from international and domestic sources for the benefit of its membership, principal stakeholders and the New Zealand economy.  CINZ will also act in an advocacy role for the convention and incentive sectors of New Zealand tourism and provide opportunities for professional development, accreditation and education for those engaged in the sector.


BACKGROUND
Conventions & Incentives New Zealand is the marketing name for the New Zealand Convention Association (Inc), a fully incorporated non-profit society, which commenced its activities in 1984.
The Association is dedicated to yielding commercial benefits to its members and the New Zealand economy as a whole.




DOMESTIC MARKETING ACTIVITIES
The Association employs a database manager who is responsible for maintaining the corporate and association databases, which contain details of companies or organisations that regularly hold meetings or conferences.

Details of forthcoming conference requirements are disseminated through an electronic leads generation system: easyfinder.co.nz.  Meeting organizers enter their event details online and these are matched to our extensive database of venues and services.

An annual planner is published containing detailed information on venues and services throughout New Zealand.  This invaluable resource is distributed free of charge to meeting planners both within New Zealand and internationally.

CINZ Korero, the monthly CINZ email newsletter is sent out every month.  This contains news of the industry relevant to meetings and event organizers.

The Meetings Exhibition, which is the only dedicated exhibition in New Zealand covering the conference and incentive sectors of tourism, is held in June/July of each year and involves over 130 exhibitors, representing the cream of the convention and incentive industry in New Zealand. A Hosted Buyer Programme from Australia and New Zealand is also operated to ensure quality buyers are attending the exhibition. The exhibition represents a superb opportunity for both meeting planners and incentive planners to check out, in person, the very latest developments and products that are available to them in the convention and incentive industries.

INTERNATIONAL MARKETING ACTIVITIES
Conventions & Incentives New Zealand employs a full time Marketing Manager based in Sydney. Sharon Auld is responsible for co-ordinating all our Australian marketing activities and works extremely closely with the New Zealand industry. Regular familiarisation visits are undertaken from Australia to various destinations within New Zealand and only CINZ members’ properties are utilised in these ‘famil’ visits.

The Australian Sales and Marketing Manager also organises New Zealand’s attendance at the AIME Exhibition, held in Melbourne every February and the largest convention and incentive tradeshow in Australasia. The New Zealand presence is co-ordinated by Conventions & Incentives New Zealand, with participation on the New Zealand stand restricted to International members only.

CINZ also has a presence at IMEX in Frankfurt every year, IMEX is the worldwide exhibition for incentive travel, meetings and events.

The CAP (Conference Assistance) Programme is available to associations and organisations that are in a position to bid for an international conference and have the desire to step forward and bring the conference home to New Zealand. The website www.conventionsnz.co.nz has undergone a major refresh with a new design and greater functionality. It is also being marketed through registration with industry directories and through search engine optimisation.

Conventions & Incentives New Zealand also has regular input into many New Zealand and overseas publications and has an ongoing programme for the dissemination of information relating to the New Zealand convention scene.
